First and last time in Slovak swimming pool - Laurent

26/03/2025

Hi everyone, today I want to talk about my worst experience in Bratislava. As you can have read in the title, it's about the swimming pool. Don't worry, it doesn't mean that you have to avoid it. It's not for me, that's all !

So, the story took places the 14th of February. I didn't talk about it earlier because I was too ashamed of a scene, you'll understand. Anyway, Colin, Chloé and I went to the swimming pool during the Friday afternoon.

Firstly, the swimming pool is approximatively 40min away from our dormitory. When we arrived, the reception staff doesn't speak English at all. So, we had difficulties to understand the prices. We finally succeeded in entering in the changing and lockers area.

We had a magnetic bracelet to open lockers. We changed into swimming clothes and go to the shower room. I just enter in the area when a woman interrupted me, talking in Slovak. I don't understand Slovak, so I told her. Then she just said "ladies"… I understood the situation and apologized. I went back and saw the sign with "Pani" which means "ladies" in Slovak. It was behind a wall, that's why I didn't see it before entering. In France, the organization is different. How lucky I am to hadn't see a nacked woman, I would have felt even more confused.

After my shower, in the men space of course, we entered in the swimming pool and the training could start ! We saw multiples 25m lines. About a third was dedicated to lessons, so other lines were busy. After asking when the lessons take place, the monitor responded us that it depends. God bless, at least he could speak English... Nevermind, we had "enough" space to swim. There were 3 lines available for all the swimmers. The problem is that people don't care about difference of paces. So, there were lots of traffic jams. But it's okay, we have the same issue in France.

I finally started my training. What a surprise when Chloé came and told me that we only had 15min left in the swimming pool. She learned it when she went to lockers to take her towel, the screen showed when she badged her bracelet. As the reception staff couldn't explain the prices, we supposed that it was a simple entrance, but it was a 1-hour entrance. In my opinion, 5,80€ is really expansive for this. Anyway, I made a half training session and since this afternoon, I haven't swim again...
