History

Hello everyone, if you read my short presentation at the beginning of the blog you know I love history, it's maybe my biggest hobby and it's such an interesting topic. So the whole Erasmus is like a living dream, to see all these countries, all these places, all these monuments, the history reached its peak and for the better. I'm obliged to learn all I can when I visit a place and from 28th to 30th march, I was in Kraków with some friends. Kraków is located in southern Poland along the Vistula River, it's one of oldest Polish cities.

Its fondation in the 7th century is consist of a legend in which the city was construct above a cave where lived a dragon named Smok Wawelski. This dragon was killed by Krakus, founder of Krakow, not with a sword and muscles but by the use of a ruse, he gave to the dragon a poisoned ring. Years fater, in 1038, Kraków was named the capital of the Polish kingdom until 1596 when the royal family moved to Warsaw. The Wawel Castle, who took is name from the dragon, was old residence of Polish kings and is still a major place to visit.

Memories

For me it was truly one of the most important journey I ever made during my whole life. Because the story of this city and its region is probably the most interesting and tragic, we don't only visit Kraków but also the deathcamp Auschwitz. If the time between the journey and the article is high is because I was uncertain if I should make it. For me its a huge responsability to write an article about this subject.

But I think its still important to do it not only for the history but also for the memories, commemorate all the victims. Unlike the story of Kraków, I'm not going to talk about what I saw during the visit or even put pictures  to avoid shock without meaning or context. However I will only strongly recommand you to visit this place and surely hard but I think its necessary. But if you have this opportunity, take guide to have all the right informations, and if its possible a guide who can speak your first language. For the memories of all the victims.
