Second paradise of this Erasmus, Croatia - Laurent

Hi everyone ! Long time no see… Or should I say « Long time no read » ?

Anyway ! Let me tell you about this trip in Croatia ! 

Basically, after the marathon, everything is boring, monotonous. Friends that came, I missed them a lot… So we decided to pack our stuffs and go for a trip to chill lying on beaches, sunbathing and swimming before to pass our exams. That's why we went to Rijeka where Chaimaa, Jonathan, Jules, Marion and Thomas belong for their Erasmus. Of course and as always, we took a Flixbus to arrive on the 3rd largest city of Croatia located at the north along the coast. We arrived for the sunrise on Friday 2nd of May.

We started by dropping off our things at the guys' place while waiting to get into our Airbnb. They had warned us that Rijeka had many steep hills, but I didn't expect to be sweating that much at 7 in the morning!

Then we went for a walk around a small castle overlooking the city, and then to a nearby park—it was beautiful! To end the morning, we visited the city centre.

The afternoon plan: swimming at the beach, which is why we came! Pebble beaches, bright sunshine, and refreshing seawater welcomed us. After a few hours by the water and eating pizzas while watching a stunning sunset, we headed back!

The next day, we visited the island of Krk. A small island with charming villages and pedestrian streets—just the way we like them! Once again, we went swimming at a tiny, secluded beach.

Then we came back to explore a few of the bars our friends usually go to.

After a good night's sleep, we hit the road to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The turquoise water, lush vegetation, waterfalls, and pathways along or over the lakes were breathtaking. I probably shouldn't talk about these ecologically sensitive places too much, because overcrowding causes damage. So if you decide to visit after reading this, please make sure to respect the site's safety and preservation rules!

This final visit wrapped up our trip—we returned to Rijeka and then headed to Bratislava the very next day. This weekend gave me the energy boost I needed to finish my Erasmus! I definitely recommend taking a trip to Croatia if you get the chance!
